Max and Erma’s restaurants were found in the year 1972. The founders were Barry Zacks and Todd Barnum, The first chain of the restaurant was opened in Columbus, Ohio. The inspiration behind this chain of the restaurant lies in the simple business history, when the founders Barry and Todd bought a small Tavern which was run by Max Visocnik and Erma Visocnik. The founders converted this local Tavern into a themed restaurant. The name of the restaurant wasn’t changed but several features were added to the existing ones, for example a sundae bar. With the passing years, the restaurant gained prosperity and were expanded in several cities of United States. In the year 2008, the chain was bought by the G&R Acquisitions and later in the year 2010, American Blue Ribbon Holdings bought the whole chain.
